Northern Premier League Division One South - THE MATCH

Willenhall Town 0-1 Loughborough Dynamo

Kris Nurse 91

'Nurse to the death' - Official Match Report

Only a goal in second half injury time denied Willenhall Town from picking up their second point of the season.
In a first half short on chances Loughborough came close after a poor clearance from Steve Jackson. The ball fell to Alex Johnson, but Jackson made amends as he acrobatically caught Johnson’s curling shot.
On 18 minutes only a fine block from Adam Robinson prevented Calum Ross’s effort from testing the Willenhall keeper.
Willenhall created their first real chance after 27 minutes. Some good link up play between Alex Roofe and Tangeni Nghishidimbwa saw Roofe fire an effort at goal which visiting keeper Matt Nurse could only parry away. The rebound fell to Sam Wills but he could only shoot over the bar.
2 minutes later a Lawrence Hale shot was well blocked by Wayne Brown, whilst the final effort of the half almost gave Willenhall the lead, as only a fine block on the line from keeper Nurse prevented Anthony Boswell’s inswinging corner from going into the goal.

Half time: Willenhall 0 Loughborough 0

3 minutes after the restart a cross found Loughborough striker Kris Nurse in space, but the ball bounced awkwardly and Nurse could only send the ball wide.
Nurse came close again 2 minutes later, this time his shot was well saved low down by Jackson. The ball fell to Ross, but he could only shoot wide from an acute angle with the whole goal to aim for.
From her on in, it was Loughborough who created the better chances, as Willenhall’s defence had to deal with an increased workload. A cross from the left to the back post narrowly avoided several players before going wide and on 62 minutes Karl Noble fired a 20 yards effort just wide.
Loughborough substitute Jamie Allen had two efforts in four minutes, the first was just wide of the target, whilst the second was poorly hit, allowing Roofe enough time to get back and clear from near the line.
Inside the last ten minutes, the ball fell to an unmarked Scott Clamp inside the area, his goalbound shot was somehow tipped over the bar by the excellent Jackson.
But just when it looked like Willenhall had done enough to earn a point, Loughborough scored with just a minute of three added on to go. For one the defence were split with a through ball, and although Jackson did well to block Noble’s initial effort, the ball fell to Kris Nurse, who tapped into an unguarded goal to give Loughborough the three points.
