Northern Premier League Division One South - THE MATCH Willenhall Town 0-1 Grantham Town Lee Potts 87 'Pot-Luck!' - Official Match Report An 87th minute strike broke Willenhall hearts as Grantham took the three points on Saturday. The home side started brightly, with Sean Pugh seeing his shot saved by the legs of Ayden Duffy, and Terrance Morton having an effort cleared off the line. Grantham came close on 6 minutes, when Daniel French’s shot beat Steve Jackson, but Shaun Griffiths was well positioned to clear the danger. But 2 minutes later Griffiths became the villain as his challenge saw Grantham gain a penalty kick, but Gio Carchedi’s spot kick was well held by Jackson to keep the score 0-0. On 10 minutes some good play between Lee Chilton and Ed Ryan saw Ryan hit an effort just wide. After a lull in the action, a good cross by Chilton picked out Pugh unmarked at the back post, but the striker couldn’t get an effort on target after 27 minutes. Pugh was again involved 2 minutes later after Duffy came off his line but failed to gather up the loose ball, Pugh picked it p but his shot was just wide. On the half hour mark, Grantham’s Rob Norris saw his header fall straight into the arms of Jackson, and 2 minutes before the break, Chilton’s in swinging free kick found Griffiths, but his header was just wide.

Grantham came out of the blocks quickly in the second half, as French, Norris, and Martin Wormall all forced saves out of Jackson inside the first 15 minutes. After 63 minutes, Chilton floated an effort just wide, whilst 2 minutes later, Jamall Pinnock did well to bring down a cross before volleying just wide. From there on in Grantham looked the more threatening, Wormall fired a shot just wide from the edge of the area, and Carchedi somehow blazed the ball over the bar from 3 yards out, despite Jackson looking well beaten. It looked like lady luck was on Willenhall’s side again, as Jackson fumbled a catch, the ball fell onto the head of Lee Potts, who headed over the open goal. A superb double challenge by Griffiths kept the score at 0-0, but in the 87th minute Potts made amends for his error as he rifled a first time shot into the top right hand corner following a ball from the left.
