Willenhall Town 0-3 Market Drayton Town

Jamie Haynes 8

Jason Francis 66

James Askey 87

'Basement Blues' - Official Match Report

Market Drayton moved to within a point of the league leaders, at the expense of basement side Willenhall Town.
The visitors dominated in terms of efforts on goal, with the closest the home side coming was an effort by Sean Pugh, which deflected through to goalkeeper Andrew Pryce.
After 4 minutes Paul Bowyer found himself unmarked in the Willenhall area, he nodded down to Martyn Davies, but he could only volley over the bar.
But on 8 minutes the visitors broke the deadlock. A great run down the right by the pacey Scott Embrey saw him cross to Jamie Haynes, who shot into the net from 6 yards.
Haynes almost doubled his tally on 19 minutes, but his 30 yard free kick was just over the Willenhall goal.
2 minutes later an even better opportunity arose following a handball by a Willenhall defender inside their own area. But from the penalty that followed, Davies saw his effort saved by Jackson, the keeper doing well to dive to his right.
Jackson had to be alert again on 42 minutes as an inswinging corner from the left looked to be going straight into the net before he punched clear.
2 minutes later and a speculative effort from Daniel Griffiths swerved in the air, but Jackson did well to watch it into his arms.

Half time: Willenhall 0 Market Drayton 1

Willenhall came out and battled bravely at the start of the second half, without really troubling the Market Drayton goal.
On 57 minutes Alex Roofe did well to block an effort from Davies, whilst on 65 minutes Haynes saw his header deflect out for a corner.
And from this corner the visitors doubled their lead. Jason Francis rising highest to head in from close range.
After Davies saw another headed effort drift wide, an encouraging run down the left from Willenhall debutant Alex Igori looked to spark a mini revival, as a series of corners followed.
But the game was sealed on 87 minutes, as, following a short corner, substitute James Askey headed in to move Market Drayton up to third place.

Next up for Willenhall is a trip to Carlton Town, this Saturday.
