'A Decimating Display' - Official Match Report

Stamford inflicted a heavy defeat on Willenhall Town, showing no mercy to the debt ridden club.
The home side came straight out the blocks, with Ton Battersby forcing a point blank save from busy Willenhall keeper Amritjoyt Kler.
The breakthrough came on 5 minutes. The ball wasn’t cleared out of the Willenhall area, and Adam Weston took full advantage, slamming it into the bottom corner from 12 yards.
It was 2-0 a minute later, Lee Beeson skipping past a couple of Willenhall challenges before crossing to Danny Matson, who headed in from 6 yards.
As Stamford continued to dominate the midfield battle. Weston managed to break free, and his 25 yard shot was just wide, before they went 3-0 up on 18 minutes.
With the defence out of position, Matson picked the ball up in space, before slotting a shot into the bottom corner.
Willenhall then came alive and started to play better. Danny Yearwood crossed to Carlton Rose, who headed just over, whilst Nathan Howells did well to hold the ball up inside the area, and his turn and shot was just over the bar.
After Howells had seen another effort well saved at the near post by Chris Wright, Ed Ryan crossed for Yearwood, who volleyed just wide, whilst Ricky Nicholls’s free kick into the area was unlucky to bounce off the cross bar.
Stamford began to assert themselves again, and a good through ball from David Burton-Jones set Beeson clear, but his shot from an acute angle was just wide.
A minute before the break, Stamford went 4-0 up, as another counter attack caught Beeson one on one with a Willenhall defender, he did well to drive the ball past Kler.

Half time: Stamford 4 Willenhall 0

The second half started much like the first, with a good ball over the top from Daniel Cotton just avoiding the run of Phil Stebbing.
On 51 minutes Stamford added their fifth goal, as Cotton hit a 35 yard free kick towards goal. Kler anticipated it would fall wide, but to his dismay the ball bounced right into his top corner.
A minute later Cotton came close again, cutting in from the left and shooting just over.
On 70 minutes more chaos inside the Willenhall box almost added to another Stamford goal. But Matson had a shot blocked, whilst a rebound shot from Beeson hit the bar. Another effort fired in produced a fine diving save from Kler.
3 minutes later and the score did become 6-0. Jayson O’Kelly lost the ball cheaply on the edge of the area, and Stebbing fired a shot into the top corner.
It was de ja vu 5 minutes later, again O’Kelly was caught in possession by Stebbing, who cut in from the right and fired another shot low past Kler.
On 79 minutes the score was 8-0 as Cotton volleyed in a cross from the right.
Willenhall came close to grabbing one back, as Rose saw a shot hit the post, with a follow up from Howells well saved by the legs of Wright.
The scoring was complete on 85 minutes, as a fine run from Stebbing saw him beat both Willenhall centre backs, the ball was picked up by Cotton who hit a shot under Kler.
