Northern Premier League Division One South - THE MATCH

Loughborough Dynamo 5-0 Willenhall Town - Saturday 23rd January 2010 - Kick-Off 1500

'Nursed to Defeat' - Official Match Report

Loughborough turned in a dominant performance to extend their impressive unbeaten streak.
Willenhall’s debutant keeper Matthew Jones was kept busy, and if it weren’t for some outstanding stops the scoreline could have been greater. He was first tested on 4 minutes, as he had to parry away a 20 yard shot from Neil Morgan.
A rare Willenhall shot came on 9 minutes, as some good skill by Adam Robins saw him open up some space, and his 25 yard shot was just wide.
On 11 minutes, Kris Nurse headed a corner towards the back post, and despite the best efforts of Calum Ross, his outstretched leg failed to connect with the ball.
The opening goal came on 21 minutes, as a quick counter attack from midfield saw the ball break into space for Ross, who had time to slot the ball past Jones.
5 minutes later and the score was doubled, as a low corner from the left evaded a large crowd of players, before finding Adam Hohn at the back post, who tapped in from close range. Willenhall were in danger of being routed as a minute later a quick throw to Alex Johnson, followed by his first time shot saw only a deflection prevent another shot on target. Whilst on 35 minutes, a free kick delivered to the back post saw a Carl Adams shot hit the post.
Some good pressure from Shaun Griffiths saw Reece Lester forced to play the ball towards his own goal, Carlton Rose intercepted. But keeper Matt Nurse was off his line quickly to block a shot.
Loughborough ended the half stronger, as Morgan headed a good cross over from close range, Ross set up Kris Nurse, who shot over from 6 yards, a shot from the right went through Jones legs, but Griffiths was on hand to clear off the line, and an excellent through ball set Kris Nurse one on one, but Jones got enough on the shot to force it onto the post.

Half time: Loughborough 2 Willenhall 0

In search of a goal, Kris Nurse volleyed an effort straight at Jones on 47 minutes.
Willenhall battled well, and forced a fine double save from Matt Nurse on the hour mark. First a Todd Perry header was only parried down, and substitute Andy Worley struck a shot which was saved by the legs of the keeper.
5 minutes later Worley found himself one on one, but his shot was straight at Matt Nurse.
On 71 minutes, Willenhall found themselves down to 10 men, as Alex Roofe was sent off after committing his second bookable offence, from the resulting free kick, Loughborough went 3-0 ahead, as Kris Nurse rose highest to head in.
After Lester saw a 20 yard shot fly just wide, a fine double save from Jones saw him first tip a rising Lewis Allen effort over the bar, and from the corner, Jones got down low to his right to tip a header clear.
The final two goals came inside the last 10 minutes, as first a good cross from the right saw Joe Latham slide in to tuck the ball home, and Kris Nurse found himself one on one, and slipped the ball under Jones to complete the rout.

Loughborough line up: M. Nurse, Jenno, Lester, Morgan, Hohn, Latham, Ross, Johnson (Noble), K. Nurse, Adams (Miller), Edwards (Allen).

Willenhall line up: Jones, Griffiths, Pomroy-Crowe (Doughlin), Perry, Brown, Whitehouse (Nicholls), Roofe, O’ Kelly, Manchester, Rose (Worley), Robins.
