Willenhall could have taken the lead after just 4 minutes. Dwayne Robinson’s cross the back post found Jamall Pinnock ghost in unmarked, but the striker failed to connect with the ball. After James Haynes had fired a free kick just wide, Market Drayton took the lead on 8 minutes, when a corner from the right saw Paul McMullen rise highest to head in from close range. The score became 2-0 on 10 minutes, as a Darren Beech mis-hit cross deceived keeper Matt Jones, and went straight over his head and into the net. Just after a 20 yard effort from McMullen went just wide, Willenhall came close as Jayson O’Kelly hit a 25 yard shot just wide. Jones had to be alert on 34 minutes, as a free kick bounced inside his area, and only a diving punch cleared the danger, from a resulting corner, a header into the ground bounced up before hitting the crossbar. But this extended pressure led to Market Drayton’s third goal on 38 minutes, as Haynes converted a penalty after a push inside the area. A minute later Tom Rogers did well to hook the ball behind him to get a shot on goal, which forced a good stop from Jones, whilst a minute later, Pinnock hit a 25 yard shot straight at Andrew Spooner. Before the break the home side added two more goals. As a good cross from David Howells was slid into the net by Rogers, and in stoppage time, Matt Whitehouse scored an own goal, as an attempt to clear the ball from a Market Drayton attacker went wrong.
