Northern Premier League Division One South - THE MATCH Kidsgrove Athletic 7-0 Willenhall Town - Saturday 20th February 2010 - Kick-Off 1500 Dave Walker 4, 29, 62 Sam Hall 70, 71, 76 Tim Saunders 74 'Walker in the Park!' - Official Match Report Kidsgrove had the better chances in this game, and a flurry of goals in the second half ensured they picked up all three points. They started the scoring after 4 minutes, as a cross from the right was brought down by Dave Walker, and after Matt Jones failed to grab the loose ball, Walker swept the ball in from close range. Kidsgrove doubled their lead after 29 minutes. This time it was a cross from the left that caused problems, as Walker timed his run perfectly to bullet a header into the top corner. 3 minutes later Walker almost bagged a first half hat-trick as the ball was played through to him. But Jones pulled off a fine save from his shot. Jones was again called into action on 42 minutes, as he closed the nagle enough to force Matt Hadderell to shoot over the cross bar. Half time: Kidsgrove 2 Willenhall 0 The second half started with Adam Beasley firing over from inside the area, whilst Walker found himself clean through, but Jones managed to turn his shot around the post. Willenhall then worked themselves an opportunity, as a good ball by Nick Robertson sent Nathan Howells clean through, but Steve Intihar was on hand to save. On 62 minutes Walker bagged his hat-trick. A free kick into the area was headed back across goal, and Walker had enough space to turn the ball in. After another shot from Howells forced another save from Intihar, Beasley forced a great save from Jones, the keeper diving high to his left to turn a shot over the bar. Kidsgrove’s fourth came on 70 minutes, as a corner from the right wasn’t properly cleared, and the ball fell to Sam Hall at the back post, who had a simple finish into the bottom corner. Hall found himself on the scoresheet again a minute later. As a flowing passing move down the centre of the pitch set Hall clean thorough on goal, and he kept his nerve to slot the ball low past Jones. On 74 minutes the score became 6-0, as a square ball from the right was played to Tim Sanders, who easily skipped round one challenge before placing the ball high past Jones. The scoring was completed on 76 minutes. A clumsy challenge from Alex Roofe gave away a penalty, and Sam Hall stepped up to send the ball down the middle of the goal to complete his hat-trick. The final 10 minutes saw efforts from Aiden Matranga, Sanders and Walker all well saved by Jones, whilst Willenhall almost capitalised on some sloppy defending, Ricky Nicholls seeing his shot tipped over the bar.
