I guess there are two schools of thought where some of these cups are concerned. One says that you field your best team and try to win every game, the other that as the season goes by and you may be lucky enough to have the odd cup run (as we were last season), there comes a time when you have to assess your priorities and make a sacrifice here and there.
I can't blame Gary for the team he put out at Bishops Cleeve - few people have any real interest in the League Cup (any League Cup) unless you get to the final - and we did have arguably the biggest fish in our history to fry shortly afterwards. But I can also see why those who made the effort to travel down there might have felt a bit disappointed - but surely not surprised.
Bear in mind also that Marin O'Connor was there "scouting" for Walsall - I bet he felt his evening was more wasted than yours, Jane&Jack!
